Junheng Chen is an active performer and enthusiastic educator. She completed her doctorate in violin performance and literature with a minor in music theory at the Eastman School of Music. She serves as Assistant Principal violinist at the Binghamton Philharmonic Orchestra. She is a former violin studio Teaching Assistant at the Eastman School of Music and a former violin instructor at the University of Rochester. Because of her creative and comprehensive teaching style, she was nominated for the 2020-21 Teaching Assistant Prize by the Eastman String Department.
Students who graduated from Junheng violin studio all enjoyed their musical lives, several of them become wonderful musicians and got accepted into prestige music institutions including the Eastman School of Music, the Juilliard School, and the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music.
As a performer, Junheng is the winner of numerous national and international awards and scholarships, and has performed recitals in many world-renowned venues throughout Asia, Europe, and North America, including the Carnegie Halls and the Kodak Hall. Since she is very open to innovation and diversity, many of those performances were world premiering of new musical works in numerous styles.
