Competition Track Program

The Competition Track Program at the Chopin Academy of Music is designed for exceptionally dedicated and advanced students pursuing the highest levels of musical and artistic development.

This highly selective program provides intensive, individualized training for students preparing for major performances, festivals, competitions, auditions, and advanced pre-professional study. Emphasis is placed not only on technical mastery, but also on artistry, interpretive depth, stage presence, and long-term musical maturity.

The Competition Track represents the Academy’s most advanced course of study and is intended for students who demonstrate both exceptional ability and sustained commitment. Students should be at the level to approach truly difficult national and international competitions, such as the Sonare International Piano Competition.

Admission into the Competition Track Program is by instructor recommendation and evaluation only.

Students entering this program are expected to have already developed:

• Readiness for intensive repertoire study

As outlined in the Academy’s curriculum framework, this program is intended for students who have demonstrated advanced proficiency and who are prepared for the demands of high-level performance preparation. Those preparing for entry in college conservatories or a supplemental music application will be well-prepared while undergoing this program.

Because of the rigor involved, music study within the Competition Track often becomes the student’s primary extracurricular focus. Students also must have tested out of all advanced requirements from the Exam Track Program.

Unlike generalized lesson programs, the Competition Track is highly individualized according to each student’s strengths, goals, and projected performance calendar.
